Vedic Sociology
For three centuries, since the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution, positivism and accelerated industrialisation have cut individuals and whole societies off from land, cows, culture, tradition and spirituality, leaving people alienated where they were meant to be productive. That is the problem this study begins from, and against it the study sets the four Vedic sciences (ānvīkṣikī, trayī, daṇḍa-nīti and vārtā) and a field survey that asks villagers how well their physical, mental, intellectual, social and spiritual needs are actually being met.
It is a synopsis of the doctoral thesis “The Vaiṣṇava Vedic View of Sociology: Its Application in the Twenty-First Century”, submitted to Osmania University: the problem, the aims, the literature reviewed, the method, the findings and the recommendations, in that order, at a length you can read in a sitting.
